Included Markers

4 markers
LH (Luteinizing Hormone) Prolactin FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) Estradiol (E2)

A hormone panel for women measuring FSH, LH, Estradiol, and Prolactin. These four markers together provide insight into hormonal balance and reproductive health status.

Why this test?

Hormones like FSH, LH, Estradiol, and Prolactin influence the menstrual cycle, mood, bone health, and general wellbeing. Measuring them together provides a broader picture of hormonal status than any single marker could offer on its own.

Who is this test for?

This test may be relevant for women who want insight into their hormonal balance. It can be useful at various life stages: for women who are still menstruating and curious about their cycle-related hormones, as well as for women approaching or in menopause who want to understand how their hormonal levels may be shifting.

What is tested?

  • FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone): plays a role in egg development and is associated with ovarian function.
  • LH (Luteinizing Hormone): works together with FSH and is involved in ovulation.
  • Estradiol (E2) (pmol/l): the primary form of oestrogen; levels fluctuate throughout the menstrual cycle and change during menopause.
  • Prolactin (ug/l): a hormone produced by the pituitary gland; involved in various body functions beyond lactation.

What can this test tell you?

The results may indicate where your hormone levels fall in relation to expected ranges for your age and cycle phase. Changes in FSH and Estradiol, for example, may be associated with the transition towards menopause. Elevated Prolactin could have various causes that a healthcare provider can help evaluate.

How is the sample collected?

A blood sample is drawn at a certified sample point (afnamepunt). There are over 750 locations across the Netherlands. After placing your order, you can select a location and time that suits you.

When is this test useful?

This test may be useful when you want insight into your hormonal balance, for example during perimenopause, when experiencing changes in your cycle, or simply as a baseline measurement to have on record.

What do the results mean?

Results are presented with reference ranges that vary by cycle phase (for menstruating women) or menopausal status. Hormone levels naturally fluctuate, so a single measurement provides a snapshot. A healthcare provider can help you interpret the results in the context of your symptoms and medical history.

Preparation

If you are still menstruating, testing on cycle day 2 to 5 is recommended for more informative FSH, LH, and Estradiol results. If you are postmenopausal, the test can be taken at any time. Discuss timing with your healthcare provider if you are unsure.

What happens after the results?

Your results are available in your personal dashboard. If you have questions about what the values mean for your situation, or if any results fall outside the expected range, sharing them with your healthcare provider is recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are still menstruating, testing on day 2-4 of your cycle may provide more informative results for FSH, LH, and Estradiol. If you are postmenopausal, the test can be taken at any time. Discuss timing with your healthcare provider.

What We Test

This health panel includes 4 biomarkers to give you a clear picture of your health.

An LH blood test measures luteinizing hormone, a pituitary hormone essential for reproductive function. LH plays a key role in triggering ovulation in women and stimulating testosterone production in men.

Learn more

A prolactin blood test measures the level of prolactin, a pituitary hormone primarily known for its role in lactation. Prolactin also influences reproductive function, immune regulation, and metabolic processes in both men and women.

Learn more

Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is produced by the pituitary gland and plays an essential role in reproductive function. It regulates egg development in women and sperm production in men. Abnormal levels may indicate changes in fertility or hormonal health.

Learn more

Estradiol (E2) is the most potent form of estrogen, playing a key role in reproductive health, bone density, and cardiovascular function. Abnormal levels may indicate hormonal imbalances that your healthcare provider can help evaluate.
