ESR Value: What Does the Sedimentation Rate Say About Your Health?
The ESR value (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) measures how quickly your red blood cells settle to the bottom of a tube. A higher sedimentation rate may indicate inflammation or infection somewhere in your body. The ESR value typically increases slightly with age. Your doctor can distinguish between a normal age-related change and a value that needs attention.
